Anthony Davis' all-round effort boosts Mavs over Nets

Anthony Davis recorded 24 points, 14 rebounds, three steals and three blocked shots to help the Dallas Mavericks notch a 119-111 victory over the visiting Brooklyn Nets on Friday night.

Cooper Flagg had 22 points and eight assists for the Mavericks, who won for the fifth time in six games. Naji Marshall scored 17 points, Max Christie had 15 off the bench and P.J. Washington added 13 for Dallas.

Michael Porter Jr. poured in 34 points and was 6 of 10 from 3-point range for the Nets. The output gave Porter a career-best four consecutive 30-point outings and he has reached that mark nine times overall this season.

Danny Wolf had 17 points and seven rebounds off the bench and Nic Claxton added 14 points and 10 boards for Brooklyn, which had won three of its previous four games.

Terance Mann scored 12 points and Noah Clowney and backup Tyrese Martin had 11 apiece for Brooklyn, which shot 45.3% from the field, including 17 of 39 from 3-point range.

The Mavericks made 48.9% of their attempts and were 10 of 30 from behind the arc. Klay Thompson had 12 points off the bench.


The contest was tied at 110 before Dallas ended the game with a decisive 9-1 run.

Davis scored five consecutive points to give the Mavericks a 104-101 lead with 7:10 left. Brandon Williams added a hoop to make it a five-point lead.

The Nets answered with nine of the next 13 points with Porter burying a trey to tie it at 110 with 3:10 remaining.

Williams hit a 3-pointer 20 seconds later and Davis scored in the interior to give Dallas a 115-110 lead with 2:18 left.

Wolf split two free throws with 1:12 remaining to bring Brooklyn within four. Washington made two free throws to give the Mavericks a 117-111 lead with 54.5 seconds left and later made two more with 24.4 seconds remaining to give Dallas the biggest lead of the contest.

Flagg had 18 first-half points as the Mavericks led 65-61 at the break. Porter scored 21 in the half for Brooklyn.

The score was tied at 90 late in the third quarter before Clowney's basket with two seconds left gave the Nets a two-point advantage.
